Join us this Valentine’s weekend as the performers and staff of the fabled prohibition bar ‘The Mermaid Club’ once again opens its doors and whisk the audience back in time for an evening of immersive cabaret fun.

Now in its fourth year, this fabulous pop-up cabaret night is coming to The Compass Inn for the second time, for an intimate evening of live cabaret entertainment, delicious food, and great company. This acclaimed immersive show features music from hit Broadway shows and Hollywood films, including Chicago, Cabaret, Guys and Dolls, and Burlesque, with songs made famous by the likes of Beyonce, Billy Holliday, Frank Sinatra, and Ray Charles.

Step back into a golden era, where cabaret clubs and speakeasies really were the only places to see and be seen. Follow our heroes and heroines through the show, as the staff and performers tell the stories of those who lived, laughed, and loved, their way through the exciting and dangerous times around the prohibition era. But be careful! We never know when a raid might take place, so always be ready to hide that ‘Bath Tub’ gin!

Diners will be guided through the evening by our charismatic ‘Mistress’ of Ceremonies, who joined ‘The Mermaid Club’ from the world of dusky underground nightclubs and prohibition bars. Your ‘MC’ will not only provide the haunting backstory behind each our singers, circus performers, and floor staff’s colourful lives, but she will also join the ensemble to tell those stories through song, dance, and the magical world of circus arts. Their stories are of unrequited love, jealousy, treachery, and hopefully the triumph of love in the face of adversity, in this themed two-hour cabaret experience.

Each ‘Undercover Ticket’ will provide the holder with exclusive entry to Mermaid Club’s special Valentine’s themed evening, featuring live singers, dancers, and circus arts performances. Food will be available to purchase on the night from the Compass Inn’s deliciously theme short order menu, with a full bar and table drinks service throughout the evening.

As a ‘Prohibition Bar’ themed evening dressing for the occasion is encouraged, but by no means compulsory. For gentleman, think gangster attire or suave sophistication, and for ladies, then the flapper girl roaring 20’s look is always a favourite. However, to make sure everyone feels part of the party, props left behind by the patrons of yesteryear, including hats and boas, can usually be found on tables.
